Unmasking the Ugly Truth: How Fox News Propagates the March Towards A Dangerous Christian-nationalist Theocracy

Ah, Fox News. I, Lilith Goodman, once admired their so-called 'fair and balanced' reporting as I tuned in religiously, soaking in every item of news like it was the wholesome, unadulterated truth fresh from God's mouth. But then, February 2024 happened and my life experienced a miraculous 'Road to Damascus' moment after a Psilocybin mushroom trip. I perceived a side to YHWH I was completely blinded to and had a heart-opening conversation with Lucifer. Today, I look at Fox News and feel a sincere sorrow I could ever let myself be duped by such a hysterical charade.

Let's talk about Vance. The recent headlines detail his clash with Walz in a high-stakes VP debate. Fox News and their experts were quick to proclaim Vance's victory, with Kayleigh McEnany toeing the line about him 'nailing' the message to suburban women. This is propaganda at its finest! The subtle sexist undertone is ironic, considering the network's track record with treating women.

The reaction of Trump to Walz's comments, branding him insane for alleged ties with school shooters, is another classic distortion of facts aimed at demonizing opposition and galvanizing hatred. It's a manipulation of populist sentiments to support an agenda of fearmongering that demonizes 'the other', an agenda the Trump-led right seems to champion.

That leads me to another headline that left me reeling: "Trump campaign manager turns Walz into meme: ‘Don’t ask us what a woman is’". A gross oversimplification, this mockery diverts from serious conversations about gender rights and trans-inclusivity, issues I am very passionate about, especially being the mother of a wonderful transgender child.

The sting of Fox’s attack on Walz moves beyond 'preferential blindness', straight into distorting history as they try to rewrite Walz's record of being present at the Tiananmen Square protests. They call his plea for 'steady leadership' a 'visibly shaky start.' An outright fabrication!

You see, these distortions, half-truths, and omissions are not meant to engage you in thought-provoking conversation, but to instigate a rise of Christian-nationalist sentiment in the US. Politically charged talk of Christian morality and patriarchy, all in service of pushing America towards a dangerous Christian-controlled theocracy ruled by the wealthy and privileged.

A theocracy where the rights and safety of LGBTQ individuals, and all who are considered enemies to the theocrats, are at risk. This sort of narrative seeks to dehumanize those they deem unfit, a danger I am all too familiar with, from my previous life of blind allegiance to harmful ideologies.

Fox News, with its christo-fascist propaganda, is practicing nothing less than cognitive warfare designed to manipulate the masses, generating outrage and nurturing partisanship. We must humble ourselves in the face of truth, question everything, and protect our Republic from becoming the playground for Christian extremists. The fight for empathy, compassion, and religious pluralism in a free and diverse America must, and will, persist in the face of such blatant attempts at ideological subjugation.
