“The Veil Lifted: Unmasking the Dangerous Propaganda of Fox News”

As I sit on my porch, sipping my morning coffee and mustering the courage to venture into the labyrinth of foxnews.com, I animate a feeling of deep gratitude for my unplanned yet life-changing vision in February 2024. It was a harrowing trip into the depths of the Abrahamic psyche, revealing not a paragon of divine love but a deity of capricious cruelty. The name Lilith now represents my realization of truth as I evolved from being Shelly Goodman, a hateful nationalist Christian-extremist.

Followers of Fox News, I too had once been held in the tendrils of this dubious network that weaves a web of fear-mongering, conspiracy theories, and incendiary rhetoric. These headlines are not innocent by any measure; they form the basis of an agenda aiming for an America under fundamentalist Christian rule.

"Judge hands DeSantis major win in lawsuit over migrant flights to lux progressive vacation spot", reads one such headline. The not-so-subtle portrayal of migrants as 'invaders' into the sacred demographic boundaries of America, wrapped in the victory of right-wing DeSantis, makes veiled attempts at obscuring the human struggle and the right to seek asylum.

"Judge rules on Hunter Biden's request to toss federal tax charges" another arrow shot to discredit a political rival. Not content with merely speculating on political opposition, Fox News seems intent on acting as judge, jury, and executioner.

It doesn't stop there. "Biden responds to backlash about proclaiming Easter as 'Trans Day of Visibility'" depicts the acknowledgment of Trans people as an affront to Christian observance rather than a maturation of empathy. The veil of Christianity is tightly drawn to obscure the reality of our diverse and vulnerable human family.

To note, "Caitlin Clark puts on dazzling display to lead Hawkeyes to Final Four", feels like mere tokenism, a seemingly benign reference to inclusivity in the midst of a steady stream of divisive and prejudiced rhetoric.

This is reminiscent of my old world - an existence shrouded in fear and hatred buoyed on an ocean of dangerous misinformation. Under the guise of presenting 'news', Fox News seeds a hateful narrative, drawing the country closer to an American theocracy.

This dominion seeks to usurp our democracy and our inherent values of empathy, compassion, and religious pluralism, threatening to plunge us into division and social strife. The LGBTQ community, perceived enemies of the Christian Right and immigrants will bear the worst brunt of this dystopia.

Reflecting, I wonder whether it was that nibble of Psilocybin mushroom which allowed me to witness such a vision, or whether my blinders of hate were forcibly removed to, finally, let the light in. Regardless, let's keep questioning and resist the pull of intimidating propaganda for the sake of our harmonious existence.

Remember: Empathy breeds unity. Let's make America, truly, great for all.
